How do I fish?
To start fishing you must know the basics. I recomend "afk" fishing before you start your sport fishing adventure.
"Afk" fishing is simply fishing with worms anywhere that contains water. Worms can be gathered through bundles or bought with gold from auction house. (Lately worms have been selling for ALOT so be aware of that) Labor cost for afk fishing is 5 labor per cast. You left click the hook and then right click the water and viola, you are fishing! The fish caught is mostly used for making dawn lake light essence. I recommend doing this until you are around 4k fishing prof.
"Sports" fishing is where you pick a fishing rod and lures based on your fishing prof. Lures can be purchased either with vocation through vocation shop OR gold with the auction house. At the beginning of your adventure, each cast of your line cost 100 labor. (It will be worth it though!) You will need the type of chum depending on the location you are sports fishing. Saltwater mackerel is for ocean type areas and chum is for freshwater. (Bought from vocation store or auction house.) Find a fishing spot (a spot where birds circle) and right click your chum then left click the water. Equip your rod and fish! Make sure to follow the directions the fish is demanding under his life bar.
Where do I go from there?
Now that you afk and sports fish, you can really start living the fisherman's life. Your next step could be showing off your new skills in the Saturday fishing tournaments, building yourself a house on the water, or crafting your very own fishing boat.
Fishing tournaments are held in mirage isle at the docks floating in the ocean. They supply you with a rod and some lures to fish with. You can turn your catches into either a tiny bit of gold or a fancy new house decor item. The bigger the fish the better the price or even prize. The prizes consist of coins that can be used to purchase fishing related items such as the octopus hat or the mermaid bathtub. (Most items provide buffs.)

The Ocean View house
Breezy Bungalow and Tidal Bungalow are the two options for your ocean view home. The breezy bungalow is a quint simple ocean home with room for your marine life. The tidal is a better option for the fisherman as it provides a bigger house, more marine life space, and even a area to turn in sports fish.

Intrigued by the thought of your own fishing boat?
The fish-find longliner boat is extremely useful. From having its own trade pack storage to having areas where your sports fish go; its got all the little things a fisherman could want. I mean who needs some merchant ship when you got a two for one in this boat?? Speed can be increased similar to a clipper and with the option of exchanging the trade packs with crest (which are lighter) it does offer some benefits.
Crafting the boat, however, isn't a cake walk. The fish-find longliner blue print is 500 gilda stars. A fish certificate is needed and that makes for 100 gold. Add on the ever expensive fishing wheel, fish crane, and high power engine; your looking at a bit of work and money. All that just gets you the basic shape, you will still need the materials to finish it. (Luckily these are much cheaper/easier to get.) These materials are Lumber Pack (2)- Fabric Pack (2)- Iron Pack (2).
